New DoW Design + Updates

Hello everybody, this is Kevin from KlotzProductions and KlotzSquared and welcome to another blog entry.

So I haven't posted any new videos in three days because I have literally been working on one video during that time.  What video is that you might ask?  It is the new Deck of the Week video.  The reason it took me so long is because I redesigned the layout for the video series and it has a lot of effects to render.  It actually took me around 40 hours just to render out the one video that is around 4 minutes.

A really long rendering time

In the future I will be rendering out the background separately and keep that file on my external hard drive so I don't have to render for 40-80 hours every week.  However this means that I will have to render one 20 minute video for about a week one time.  Don't worry though, I will start and stop the render when I have time and keep making new videos in between.

A sneak peak at the new design... go watch the video to see the full thing

I am working on the rest of the footage from the Black / Red vampires mirror match currently.  So expect to see those videos coming online in the next few days.  Then I have two more matches of footage from tuesday night.  I will also be recording at the Pre-Release on saturday which I will also be playing in... so if I get top 8 you will get to see me play ;)  I will also do a deck tech with the deck I create afterwards as well.

As far as my videogame channel is going I have been working on my Bioshock 2 Walkthrough.  I have all the footage for the next level recorded and am working my way through the level after that right now.  I still have to record audio for those though.  I have been trying to work on the COD: Black Ops walkthrough, however I have been having a rough time trying to be "Executive Order" without dying.  Whenever I get access to the internet with my xbox and computer at the same time again I will be working on more multiplayer stuff for COD and possibly even some Halo: Reach because I have a cousin on the other side of my family that plays with the pros.

Fighting the big daddy!

So that is it for now and I will talk to you all later.

Fixed Computer and Free MTG Booster Packs

Hello everybody, this is Kevin from KlotzProductions and KlotzSquared and welcome to another blog entry.

So, after over a week of being without a computer I finally have it fixed and up and running again.  I ended up having to replace my motherboard and then I was still having problems when I installed the new board.  I kept getting a blue screen of death when I booted Windows.  To make a long story short I ended up doing a system restore back to December 30th and it fixed things up nicely.  I think there were driver and registry problems.  But now that everything is working you can expect all kinds of new videos coming during the next week.  The holiday season is over and so I don't have many hours at work right now.

My computer and HD PVR

I went and recorded last night at the FNM and also picked up the five Scars of Mirrodin Booster packs for the giveaway.  I am not exactly sure how I will choose the winner, it will probably be random, but I will make a video and post it on KlotzProductions within the next few days about it.

These could be yours!

I am uploading two new videos on KlotzSquared today.  They are both from COD: Black Ops.  The first video is a guide for a few quick and easy achievements and unlockables.  The second is a "gametage" commentary of a multiplayer game my friend played of Team Deathmatch on Firing Range.  So head over there and check those out.

Expect to see new gameplays the next few days on KlotzProductions.  Like I said, I recorded at the FNM last night and will be working on making new videos for you guys.  At the end of the month I will also be attending the pre-release for the new set.  I will be playing and recording the top 8 at that event.

So that is about it for now.  See you all later!

Computer Problems

Hello everybody, this is Kevin from KlotzProductions and KlotzSquared and it is time for another blog update.  So here we go.

My computer is currently not working, for whatever reason, when I boot it up there is no display on the screen.  I know it isn't a monitor issue because I tried three different monitors with no luck.  I am thinking it might a video card issue.  I have a friend that is going to take a look at it today and will hopefully be able to tell me what the problem is.  I have a feeling it is going to cost me some money to get it fixed though and I don't have a lot of money right now but I need the computer.  So we will see.  Hopefully it won't set me back to much, but until I get it fixed I won't be able to make any new videos.

On a different note, I plan on going and recording new footage this friday and I will also see about getting the five booster packs to give away when I am there.  So keep checking back for updates and I will keep you all posted.

See you later!

Christmas is Here

Hello everybody, this is Kevin from KlotzProductions and it is Christmas day.

My second channel KlotzSquared is now OFFICIALLY online.  The first real video for the channel is online today.  It is an unboxing for the Happauge High Definition Personal Video Recorder or HD PVR for short, that I am going to be using to capture all of my gaming footage.  There are also a few video capture quality tests at the end of the video you can check out.  You can watch that video here...

http://www.youtube.com/user/KlotzSquared?feature=mhum#p/p

Here is a list of some of the things I plan on working on for the channel.

COD Black Ops: gameplay commentaries
COD Black Ops: walkthrough on veteran
Resident Evil: 1-3 + 5: Full walkthrough on hardest difficulty
Bioshock: walkthrough on hardest difficulty
Halo: Reach: gameplay commentaries
Videogame montage/music video
Left 4 Dead 2: Live gameplay with subscribers

Anything else I feel like or you all would like to see.

As far as the giveaway goes for the Magic the Gathering channel, we did not reach the lowest goal which was 2,500 subscribers.... we ended up getting a little over 2,100.  So "officially" I wasn't going to be able to give out any cards.  However, I am going to talk with the store manager at Something 2 Do to see if he will give away the five free packs anyway because 500 subs in a little over a month is pretty good and I want to reward you all for your efforts.  So keep watching for updates on her and KlotzProductions to figure out exactly what I will be doing when I find out.

So that is pretty much it for today.  Hope everybody has a good Holiday whatever you celebrate.

The long road to Christmas

Hello everybody, this is Kevin from KlotzProductions and I wanted to take the time to fill you all in on what I will be up to for the next two weeks leading into Christmas.

First of all, I have just uploaded the last of the Highlights footage I had to edit.  So until I am able to go out and record again I won't be able to upload any new live footage gameplays.  This probably will not be until after Christmas.  This is because I am working every other day this week up until saturday and then I work six days in a row up until Christmas Eve.  So I will probably not have the time to record and edit any new highlights until then.

It is possible that I will get one more Deck of the Week up before then but we will have to see what kind of time I end up having.

After Christmas I am told by fellow employees that my hours will probably go down to one to two days a week ( I work in retail ).  So at that point I will probably have a lot more time to make videos, however I will also have to figure out how I am going to pay bills at that time as well.  Like I mentioned before, I will be getting my HD capture card then as well and will be able to start making videogame videos for my other channel.

So that is what is going on with me the next two weeks.  Thanks to everyone for the support and I will talk to you later.

Remember to check the links at the top of the page to find my two channels and facebook page.

Deck of the Week Play testing = EPIC FAIL?

Hey everybody, this is Kevin from Klotz Productions and today I would like to address some of the issues I have with my new Deck of the Week play testing videos as well as get your opinions.

Bad Audio
- It has been brought to my attention that the audio in the current videos is really bad.  The audio from Magic Workstation is way too loud and I am speaking way too softly.  I realized how loud the game was after the first match, so it should be better in the second and third matches against the Eldrazi and Metal Red decks.  However, I realize that I am still speaking way too softly in those videos as well.  So this is an issue I plan on addressing next week if I do these videos again.

Magic Workstation
- It has also been brought to my attention that there are other programs out there that may be better to use for testing MTG online other than Magic Workstation.  I will look into these options and see what I think about using something else instead.

Continuing the DOW Series?
- I need your opinions as to if I should continue the Deck of the Week series or not.  Should I keep doing the series and the play testing and make the correct adjustments to make the testing of higher quality?  Should I do the Deck of the Week video but stop doing the play testing?  Should the DOW video be done in a program like Magic Workstation or should I go back to editing them like I did in the first episode?  Or should I stop the Deck of the Week all together and just spend the time focusing on the videos I am good at which is the live game plays from the shop?  Let me know what you think.

In closing, I apologize for the errors in the recent videos.  It is a learning process for me and I plan on making them better.  For those of you that have been with me since the beginning you know that even my highlights videos didn't start out at the quality that they are today.

Thanks to everybody for your support and I will talk to you all later.

PS: The links at the top of the blog page work now.

Introducing... The Klotz

Hello everybody, my name is Kevin Klotz and I created this blog to go along with my two youtube channels I have.

I am currently a youtube partner on my first channel which is primarily Magic The Gathering videos.  On that channel I post two main types of MTG gameplays.  I do a full version of the game where I simply turn up the audio so you can hear the players (and background sounds) and add scrolling names of the cards while they are played.  The second type of video and probably the most popluar is my Highlights videos.  In these videos I take the game I recorded and condense it to only show the action from the game removing all the dead time from thinking and such.  Then I commentate the action and add life counters and card images to make the game easier to follow.  So if you like Magic the Gathering go check out that channel.

My second channnel is one that I just created and will be used for videogame related content.  On this channel I will be doing things like walkthroughs, montages, gameplay commentaries, reviews, and achievement guides among other things.  There currently aren't any videos on that channel, however I will be getting an HD capture card for Christmas and will start adding lots of videos then.  Most of the footage is going to be from all kinds of xbox 360 games like Call of Duty: Black Ops, Halo: Reach, Resident Evil 5, and Bioshock 2.  However, I will not be limited to only that console or only those games.  I may throw in some old-school stuff from time to time as well.  However, I don't own a Nintendo Wii or Playstation 3, so if I post videos from those consoles they will be rare, atleast at first.

So that is about it for now.  Depending on when you are reading this you may or may not be able to access my youtube channels via the links at the top of the page but I will add them at the end for you just in case.
